Teacher Home Insurance Discounts

Lesson plans. Paper grading. Gray hair dyeing. We get it, your life outside of the school halls is hectic—you work hard for your paychecks. Luckily, teacher home insurance discounts are available to help you keep more out of them.

Independent insurance agents are here for you. They’ll help you figure out how to qualify for the discounts you more than deserve, lowering your bills and leaving you to focus on the things you love. Like a glass of wine. And maybe another glass of wine.

What Are Home Insurance Discounts for Teachers?

Simply put, they’re a thank-you gift. If you’re a teacher, some insurance companies offer special discounts on your home insurance as a token of gratitude.

Sometimes this is done through your union, and other times it may be through your school district. Either way, a quick chat with your boss or HR department should set you on the right path. An insurance agent will handle the rest.

How Do I Get a Teacher Home Insurance Discount?

Just raise your hand and ask politely. A teacher discount is part of what’s called a group discount, which is basically a type of discount given to those in certain professions or associations. And the good news: It’s about one of the simplest insurance discounts to get. Here’s how:

  • Ask around the water cooler: You’ll have the best luck starting with your boss, union rep or HR department. Ask if there’s a discount program with a particular insurance company. If yes, great! If not, don’t worry: You might still qualify, and independent insurance agents can help.
  • Have a heart-to-heart with an agent: If you know you’ll get a discount with a certain company, say that up front. If you’re unsure or you know there’s no special discount offered, ask your agent to look for you. Some companies may offer a general teacher discount as a thank-you for your service.
  • Compare wisely: Your agent may provide you with a few quotes to choose from. If that’s the case, don’t automatically go for the cheapest option—mid-range options could offer more discounts and better coverage too.
