Worst possible company! Do not sign up with them! They are thie[ves] and crooks! You pay for their services, however they will devise any possible scheme to not payout a legitimate and valid insurance claim. Run!

Worst customer service. Inadequate. Unhelpful. No morals. Lying. Cheating. Crooks.

The drain under my kitchen sink broke damaging at least 4 cabinets. After much back and forth, they will pay to have the kitchen functionally restored. The fact that the cabinets will not match is not important to them. The fact that this will negatively impact my home value is not important to them. Just getting hold of them to discuss anything requires me to get my agent to call them and complain as they will not return my calls otherwise. As soon as this mess is cleared up, I am changing companies to one who actually provides coverage and not just milking customers and not providing expected coverage.

My last bill was lost that I sent to them and I had to put a stop on the original check. Rather unusual. This next one I will be sending Priority Mail and/or signature required. There is no way to know if it was the responsibility of the US mail service or the person who picks up the post office box mail. The agents who communicated with me were polite, however they could have said something about running a check on their delivery service or 'doing a double-check'. they were nice to extend their grace period so I could make a payment over the phone after blocking my original check.

Wors[t] company and experience EVER! I am still out of my house 10 months, 5 agents, two adjusters and two supervisors later. Promises made, confirmed in writing and reneged when time to follow through.

We award Homeowners Choice Insurance a final rating of 1.5 out of 5 stars. The carrier is one of the younger companies on the market today, and it shows. They are not rated by AM Best or accredited by the BBB. They've also had 10 complaints filed against them in recent years.

Homeowners Choice does partner with quality insurance companies that we've rated highly to offer home coverage. However, Homeowners Choice itself has received very negative customer reviews across the board, with many reports of no responses to filed claims and overall awful customer service experiences. 

So, overall we'd highly recommend looking into your other choices for homeowners insurance and skip looking into Homeowners Choice Insurance altogether. You may even consider working with an independent insurance agent to check into Safeco or Liberty Mutual directly.
