5 Stars
“Sierra (Ciara) was the most helpful compassionate lady. As soon as I submitted my paperwork and my doctor faxed his, I was approved. The only problem is they don't do direct deposit. Mail only. The best!” —Lori of Dania, FL

“I am updating my review of Standard Insurance. Katie Maasen responded to me and was incredible and on top of it! Provided great service! Was kind, patient and ever so helpful! She is a gem!” —Elizabeth D.

“I chose the company because of its cost effectiveness, but now realize that sometimes you get what you pay for. I would like to change insurance companies, but it's tied into my home insurance and don't want to go through the trouble of switching now since I just purchased my home.” —Andrea of Dallas, TX

“Be careful with this insurance company. I applied for short term disability when I had surgery for cancer. The company pays only 45.00 per day missed. NOT 60% of your weekly income. That came out to 91.00 for two days missed when my gross pay for the days I was out was 240.00 I wasn't told this during the six weeks it took to at least get a check. Shop around and read all the reviews carefully.” —L. of West Wardsboro, VT

“I am currently on partial long-term disability thru The Standard. The Standard consistently underpays the benefit. While they do end up sending a check with the difference they only do this everything 2-3 months. The makeup payment is normally greater than the monthly benefit payment I receive. It is unacceptable to have apx. 1/3 of a LTD benefit paid in under payment checks and without timing consistency.” —Charlotte

TrustedChoice.com's Final Review

We award The Standard Insurance Company a final rating of 3 out of 5 stars. The insurance company has been around for more than a century now, which is significant within the industry. The Standard has received high ratings through A.M. Best and the BBB, and they have been accredited through the latter organization. Coverage is offered in 49 states. The insurance company provides 24/7 claims reporting via online or phone and online bill pay yet does not list its business hours for the customer service department anywhere. There is plenty of information about the carrier’s coverage on their official website, however, there is no claims response time frame promise or an outline of their claims process at all. It is challenging to find any positive customer feedback about the insurance company online. Regrettably, currently it is difficult to say many positive things about this carrier. So, our recommendation is that if you are in the market for financial products and services, survey all your options for trusted carriers with your independent insurance agent and look further into The Standard.
