How to Get Better Reviews That Actually Attract Clients

A five-star agency review may not be enough to attract the right prospects. Here are some ways you can guide your clients to provide, specific, story-driven reviews that translate into new business.

If you’re an independent insurance agent using TrustedChoice.com to build your reputation, the reviews on your profile might paint a good picture—but not the full one. After analyzing nearly 4,000 agency reviews from 2024 using sentiment analysis, keyword tracking, and thematic tagging, we saw that agency reviews are overwhelmingly positive but often lack the detailed, story-driven feedback found in Google reviews. Here are several ways agents can get better reviews that actually attract clients.

Why the Right Reviews Matter

Reviews aren’t just about five-star ratings—they tell stories. And it’s those stories that help prospects understand what it’s like to work with you.

Posting story-driven, specific reviews will:

  • Build trust and credibility.
  • Highlight your unique value
  • Improve visibility in local search
  • Help clients picture their own experience with your agency

Generic praise like “great service” is good—but stories about how you saved the day are what truly resonate.

What Your Reviews Might Be Missing—and How to Get Them

A typical agency review on their TrustedChoice.com profile highlights friendly and professional service, fast response times, helpful, knowledgeable advice and other interactions that are part of normal good customer service.

To take your reviews to the next level, aim to gather feedback from your customers that includes:

1. Detailed Stories and Specific Wins
Short reviews like “great service” are common but don’t offer much context.

Tip: After a policy update or consultation, say: “If there was something we did that made things easier, feel free to include that in your review.”

2. Claims Experience
Clients want to know how you show up when it really counts. Google reviews often mention claim support so you should prompt your clients to offer this type of feedback.

Tip: After resolving a claim, share your review link with a note like: “Your story could help others looking for an agent they can count on during tough times.”

3. Comparisons to Previous Providers
Clients often switch from large carriers and notice a big difference. This is great feedback that can be included in your customer’s reviews.

Tip: When a client switches to your agency, ask: “If you’ve noticed a difference from your last provider, that kind of insight helps others considering a switch.”

4. Digital Tools and Convenience
Features like online portals, e-signatures, or texting help you stand out. If you offer these, prompt your clients to mention it in their reviews.

Tip: If a client benefits from these tools, add this note when sending your review link: “If our online process made things easier, that’s great info to include in your review.”

How to Guide the Right Reviews

The best reviews don’t just say you’re great—they show it. By giving clients the right nudge at the right moment, you can help them share stories that reflect the full value of your service. These stories build trust, strengthen your brand, and attract the kinds of clients you’re looking for.

  • Share the review link soon after a meaningful interaction.
  • Add one sentence suggesting what they might include based on their experience.

Example: “Thanks again for working with us—if you’d like to leave a review, here’s the link. Feel free to mention how we helped with your policy update.”
