Any insurance agent, independent or captive, knows that referrals are the bread and butter of the insurance industry. provides a range of high-intent insurance referrals for independent agents that are tailored to their individual business needs: Consumer Choice Referrals, Claim-it® Referrals, and Claim-it Warm Transfer Referrals. But what sets these referral types apart?

Your Guide to Referrals

With an Advantage Professional subscription, you can have access to all of the insurance referral types has to offer. By uploading and regularly updating your business appetite, you can be matched with active insurance prospects while they’re online or on the phone searching for coverage.

Consumer Choice Referrals

Consumer Choice Referrals how consumers on find matching independent insurance agents. Prospects simply enter their existing coverage type, coverage preferences, and contact information into our Consumer Funnel and are redirected to our agency results page by our algorithm—dubbed the Appetite Engine—of matching insurance providers. From here, insurance prospects can view an agency’s profile, read reviews, see hours of operation and all types of coverage the agency offers, and get to know the faces of the agents they’ll be working with.

Consumer Choice Referrals

These referrals are called Consumer Choice Referrals because the consumer decides which agency they want to work with. Once they select an agency to work with, they receive the agency’s contact information so they can reach out. And if the agency is an Advantage Professional subscriber, they receive the consumer’s information as well.

  • Consumers receive a list of matching agencies by entering and completing’s Consumer Funnel
  • Consumers browse agency profiles and select an agency they would like to work with
  • Consumers are given the agency’s contact information and Advantage Professional agencies are sent the consumer’s contact info
  • Agent works the referral

Claim-it Referrals

Unlike Consumer Choice Referrals, Claim-it Referrals put the power to choose in the hands of the independent insurance agent. When signed up for instant Claim-it notifications, Advantage Professional and Advantage Producer agents are instantly alerted by text and email when a local insurance referral matching their agency becomes available. Each notification includes information about the prospect, like estimated premium, the lines of coverage they’re looking for, and location. If the agent wants to claim the referral, they click the link in the notification and are immediately redirected to where they can purchase the referral for a nominal fee. If the agent is too busy to work the referral, another matching agent can claim it instead.

Claim-it Referrals come from insurance prospects who completed our Consumer Funnel but did not select an agency to work with. These prospects are then notified that an agent—and only one agent—will be in contact.

A Claim-it Personal Lines lead

Claim-it Referrals are particularly valuable because they’re exclusive to the buying agent. Once an agent purchases the referral, it becomes unavailable to all competing agents.

  • A prospect completes our Consumer Funnel but does not select an agent to work with, becoming a Claim-it Referral
  • Agents are notified by text and email of matching Claim-it Referrals
  • Agents may accept the Claim-it Referral for a nominal fee or decline
  • The referral becomes exclusive to the buying agent
  • Agent works the referral

Claim-it Warm Transfer Referrals

Similar to Claim-it Referrals, Claim-it Warm Transfer Referrals are also delivered via text and email notifications and are also exclusive to the buying agent. What sets them apart from Claim-it Referrals is that Warm Transfer Referrals come from insurance prospects who are already on the phone and waiting to speak with an independent agent. Agents have the freedom to accept or decline the referral depending on their availability. If the agent opts to accept, a mediator will introduce the agent to the prospect to help facilitate the conversation.
A Claim-it Warm Transfer Referral for Commercial Lines

  • Agents are notified by text and email of matching phone referrals
  • Agents may accept the phone referral for a nominal fee or decline
  • The referral becomes exclusive to the buying agent
  • Agent immediately receives a phone call and is introduced to the prospect by a representative
  • Agent works the referral
