Backlinks for independent insurance agencies

When it comes to search engine optimization (SEO), there are a few factors to be considered for the insurance agency seeking an organically higher ranking online. Great SEO relies on keyword research, a library of relevant content pages, the site’s domain authority, and most importantly—backlinks.

But what are backlinks exactly, and how do they organically boost traffic online?

Backlinking: An SEO Must

A relatively simple, though powerful, concept, backlinks refer to links connecting one website to another. Search engines, like Google, Yahoo!, and Bing interpret backlinks as “votes” from other websites dubbing your content as credible and informative. The more votes, aka backlinks, a site has, the more likely it is to organically rank higher on the search engine results page (SERP).

In short, backlinks are one of the many ways search engines determine what content is relevant and valuable and which users that content should be recommended to according to their search queries. A Q&A with Google representatives conducted by Search Engine Land confirms that backlinks are one of the top two ranking factors Google uses to determine a webpage’s value. That said, not just any ol’ backlink is guaranteed to boost your agency’s online ranking. Some backlinks are considered more valuable than others.

For example, since is a qualified online source for insurance, a link to your agency site from has a much higher likelihood of organically boosting your agency’s SEO as opposed to a site with a lower domain authority. You can read about domain authority and its impact on your agency site here.

How Much Do Backlinks Cost?

The price for individual backlinks can vary greatly. According to Link Builder, the average backlink costs around $361.44, but can range between $250-$1,500+ depending on the site you purchase from. This price also does not guarantee a quality backlink depending on your industry. If your agency writes niche lines of insurance, you may be looking at steeper pricing and fewer options for purchase.’s backlinks are valued at $350, and not only do you get backlinks, but with Advantage, your agency gains access to daily site crawling, the ability to define your unique business appetite, inclusion in the National Independent Agent Directory and so much more to boost your agency’s online presence.

How Do I Get Backlinks from

Backlinking is one of the most valuable perks your agency gets with even the lowest tier of the Advantage subscription. When an agency subscribes to Advantage, a link to their agency site is added to their Advantage profile, allowing them to leverage’s online reputation and domain authority score to their own advantage—no pun intended. With Advantage Profile SEO, the second tier of the Advantage subscription, and up, your agency also receives backlinks to your social media profiles for an even bigger online boost and a higher likelihood of your agency’s profiles appearing on the first page of Google.
