You can’t control whether someone engages in cybercrime. You can control how you choose to protect yourself.

Here are some simple tips to control potential cybercrime attacks:

  1. Get educated: If you know the latest cybercrime tricks, you can recognize them when they happen. This includes things like phishing, which is a newer phenomenon than some other cybercrime ploys. Read up on cybercrime and you'll be able to tell what's happening before you fall victim.
  2. Get smart about what you click: Never click on a link or attachment in an email unless you know what it is. If you don’t know, don't click.
  3.  Get stricter with your passwords: Never use your last name or your birthday as a password, both are too obvious. Make your passwords difficult and change them regularly. Use different passwords for different accounts rather than using the same password for everything.

You can always do more, but these three tips are a great way to control cybercrime in a simple way.
