What to Know about MexiPass International Insurance Services

MexiPass is a managing general agent and underwriting manager for international insurance products related to the personal and business insurance needs of Americans and other foreign nationals in Mexico and other foreign countries.

MexiPass offers its products and services through an extensive network of independent insurance agents. The company’s products include individual car, boat, and home insurance as well as comprehensive business and commercial insurance solutions.

The company was founded in 1989, when principals Jorge and Alfredo Cacho-Sousa realized the limitations for small or mid-size insurance agencies in accessing the international insurance market. Its purpose was to provide international and Mexican insurance and risk management services to all independent insurance producers in the United States and Canada.

Mexipass places business through insurance carriers with superior financial strength, a proven reputation, and international expertise. It maintains a long-lasting general agency and underwriting management agreement with AIG-Mexico, as well as relationships with AIG, CHUBB, AXA, and international insurance underwriters.

Does MexiPass have good Mexican car insurance?

MexiPass has over 25 years of experience in the Mexican insurance industry. Traditional Mexican insurance policies are structured differently and are difficult to understand for those unfamiliar with them. What’s more, they often don’t provide policy terms in English and contain unfamiliar exclusions that limit coverage when it’s needed most.

MexiPass specializes in creating Mexican insurance products that adhere to American standards, with coverage that is similar to US policies and policy language provided in both English and Spanish.

If you are driving your car to Mexico, then buying a Mexican car insurance policy is necessary. The Mexican car insurance policies from MexiPass offer the same coverage options that you would expect from US policies, including liability, collision, comprehensive, and uninsured motorist coverage. Certain policies also include emergency roadside assistance and emergency transportation home if your car is stolen or damaged in an accident.

The company also offers flexible policy lengths, making the policies suitable for tourists or for those staying in Mexico for months or years.

MexiPass offers three policy options for US-registered autos in Mexico, and a preferred auto policy for foreigners with Mexican-registered vehicles.

Is MexiPass a good insurance company?

Mexipass specializes in providing Mexican insurance to American individuals and businesses. The company specializes in catering to this niche market, and works with only highly rated insurers. With its level of expertise, wide array of policy choices, and positive customer reviews, we believe MexiPass is a good option for people looking for short- or long-term Mexican insurance.

TrustedChoice.com's Final Review

We award MexiPass a final rating of 3.0 out of 5 stars. To begin with, MexiPass has a long history and expertise in the Mexican insurance industry. It offers a variety of policy options for businesses and individuals, and it receives high marks for its policy offerings and customer service.

The company doesn’t offer a lot of information about its claims and service availability and options, however. Because the company works with a network of independent insurance agents, most customers likely report claims get service directly from their agents who then work with MexiPass. We did not find a lot of online customer satisfaction reviews, but those that we did find are largely positive.

MexiPass has a high rating from the BBB, but it is not rated by AM Best or other ratings agencies. This makes it difficult to assess the company’s financial strength.

If you’re looking for insurance for a car or home in Mexico, we recommend looking into MexiPass for your insurance needs.
