National Life Group Customer Reviews
Better Business Bureau
“Deceptive verbal advertisement for annuity death payment. Elders stay away from purchasing their products.”
Better Business Bureau
“I did my homework and National Life is coming up with the best benefits compared to the other insurance companies. I personally have a $1 million dollar life policy with National Life. I also want to share a testimony of one of my close friend who was diagnosed with cancer and actually is now cancer free was able to access a large sum of money from his policy. He only became a policy holder for two years. This is why I bought my policy with National Life Group because I have option of using the life insurance benefits if I become ill or injured. National Life Group must be doing something right if they are in business for 171 years. They are also A rated.”
Better Business Bureau
“This is an awful, deceitful, cheating company that does not honor its contracts!”
“By far the worst customer service I have ever had to deal with. I cancelled my policy with them online. Called after one week to be told the automated system did not send out the forms. It will be 7-10 days for me to receive the forms. 14 days later I get them, fill them out and fax them back with a voided check attached. That way I figured I would help move things faster. After 14 more days I called and they tell me yes we have your paper work and its being processed, could take up to 30 days. Now after almost eight weeks I email them again to find out they have not even processed it yet. Now they tell me they will put a rush on it. Supposedly its being processed today. Eight weeks to cancel a policy and receive my money back. Will update if and when I get my money back. DO NOT USE THEM.”
“I'm very sorry my former financial planner set me up with an annuity for this outfit. They don't call back, different agents tell you different things and they seem unorganized. They waffled on their policies. I would probably not trust them to help you meet your financial goals.”
TrustedChoice.com's Final Review
We award National Life Group insurance company a final rating of 1.5 out of 5 stars. The insurance company has been around for more than a century and a half now, and has received high ratings through both A.M. Best and the BBB. However, the insurance company is not accredited through the BBB, and has received quite a few complaints through the organization in recent years. Though National Life Group has a nationwide reach, their catalogue of products is highly limited. Their official website is lacking information about their claims process, and their contact page could be fleshed out a lot better. The carrier does not offer 24/7 phone claims reporting, and upon calling the contact number listed on their website, a recording states that the number is out of service. There also isn’t much in the way of positive customer feedback for the carrier, which is our biggest concern. Reviews seem to fall largely on the negative side, with customers mainly reporting frustration with getting in contact with the carrier, and not receiving the coverage they were promised. Our final word is that if you’re in need of life insurance or other retirement solutions, work with your independent insurance agent to survey all your other options for trusted insurance companies before settling on National Life Group.
