A standard claims process typically involves the following steps:

  1. The claim is reported to ASI by the agent or the insured.
  2. Our Claims Center will assign a claim number and an adjuster to the claim.
  3. The Adjuster will review loss information, collect photos, receipts and estimates if necessary.
  4. The Adjuster will contact the insured or their representative to schedule an inspection. Inspections are performed by an ASI Field Adjuster or Independent Adjuster.
  5. Only an ASI Adjuster will review coverage for the reported damage in accordance with the policy terms and conditions.
  6. One of two things will occur:

               1. Payment for covered damage is issued minus deductible and policy restriction amounts.


               2. A letter of explanation is mailed to the insured in accordance with the policy terms and conditions.

They increase the price every year. Positive experiences so far but have not made a claim yet. Impressed with company so far.

Broke a window. They were a hassle and wouldn’t accept claim. Then, we called them multiple times to get the claim approved. They were awful. Finally, they canceled us claiming we were a liability.

Terrible service from adjuster, had to chase him down constantly to get anything done, unpaid claims remain.

The prices are coming down at least $20-30 every year even though there is widespread increase of room damages due to hail. So far don't have any issues with them.'s Final Review

We award American Strategic Insurance a final rating of 2.5 out of 5 stars. The insurance company does earn points for its high financial ratings through AM Best and the BBB, but has a customer rating of only 1.28 out of 5 through the latter organization.

ASI does not offer its products in every state and has a limited catalogue at this time. Despite offering 24/7/365 phone customer service, customers report overwhelmingly unpleasant experiences in dealing with the carrier. ASI also has had 158 complaints filed against it through the BBB in the last three years.

Though ASI is a part of the much larger Progressive Group of Insurance Companies, this specific carrier unfortunately doesn't seem to have perfected its practices yet.
